MEET KLARA
I’ve always been drawn to colour.
Before SO KLARA existed, I explored how emotion, psychology and visual expression connect—first through studies in counselling and fine art, alongside a growing interest in spirituality and holistic therapies, and later through textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design, where I completed an MA in Sustainable Textile Design.
I became interested not just in how things look, but in how they make us feel.
SO KLARA began in 2014 as a way to bring all of that together.
From my studio in Edinburgh, I create hand-painted artworks that evolve into textiles, prints and interior pieces. My process is intuitive and layered, combining painting, collage and digital techniques with printmaking practices developed through my time at Glasgow Print Studio and as a current member of Edinburgh Printmakers, where I continue to explore monoprint, collagraphy and relief techniques.
Travel has always been a major influence in my work. I’m inspired by the feeling of being somewhere unfamiliar—the colours, the light, the textures, the rhythm of daily life. Nature and cultural narratives also shape how I work, often finding their way into the abstract forms and palettes you see in my collections.
At the heart of everything I create—from interiors to textiles and silk scarves—is a simple idea: that what we surround ourselves with should make us feel something—uplifted, calm, energised, connected.
Alongside my collections, I also work on bespoke projects and commissions, developing pieces in close collaboration with clients to create something personal and considered.
My work has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, featured in publications including the Financial Times, Elle and Homes & Property, and exhibited in the UK and internationally.
SO KLARA is, and has always been, about translating feeling into form.
“I love wearing my hand-finished, luxurious silk scarf by SO KLARA. The beautiful bursts of colour never fail to lighten my mood. Plus, I receive compliments every time I wear it, often from people I don’t even know”
