SPAWNING is inspired by one of nature's most extraordinary journeys — the wild salmon returning to where it began.

For me, the salmon's journey is about much more than migration. It speaks of instinct, resilience, determination and the powerful pull of home.

Against all odds, salmon travel extraordinary distances upstream, moving through fast water and difficult terrain to return to the place where their own journey began. There is something deeply moving about that sense of purpose — the idea of knowing, somewhere within yourself, where you need to go.

That became the emotional starting point for this artwork.

The composition is filled with vibrant citrus tones and expressive movement, creating a feeling of energy, life and forward momentum. Rather than depicting salmon literally, I wanted to capture the force of the journey itself — the movement, struggle, vitality and eventual return.

Nature often reminds us of things we already know but sometimes forget: that we are resilient, that change is part of life, and that sometimes we have to keep moving even when the way ahead isn't easy.

SPAWNING is ultimately a celebration of life and the instinct to keep going.

At 495 × 700 mm / 19.5 × 27.6 inches, its luminous citrus palette brings warmth and energy into an interior. It works particularly beautifully in spaces that embrace colour, natural materials and artwork with a story behind it.

SPAWNING is a limited edition of 40, with every print signed and numbered by me.

Each print is produced to order in Britain using high-quality Giclée printing on 308gsm archival fine art paper. The smooth matte finish and slightly off-white base faithfully reproduce the colour, detail and character of the original artwork.

Production & Delivery

As each print is produced to order, please allow 7–10 working days for your artwork to be produced, signed, carefully prepared and dispatched.

Your print is rolled in acid-free tissue paper and sent in a protective cardboard tube to help ensure it reaches you safely.

On arrival, gently unroll and lay flat for approximately 24 hours before framing.
