BY THE RIVER SHE LAY — Giclée Art Print
BY THE RIVER SHE LAY is about freedom, stillness and the quiet strength of simply being yourself.
The artwork grew from an image of a woman beside a river — completely at ease, surrounded by water, colour and movement. There is something powerful about that moment of stopping, letting go and allowing yourself simply to be.
I wanted to capture the feeling of surrendering to the moment rather than trying to control it. The fluid blue tones and expressive forms create a sense of movement, while the composition holds a quieter, more contemplative quality.
For me, the piece speaks to a kind of feminine strength that doesn't need to announce itself. It is soft without being fragile, calm without being passive, and free without needing permission.
Colour and emotion are always closely connected in my work, and I wanted the blues in BY THE RIVER SHE LAY to create a feeling of depth, calm and escape — something that changes the atmosphere of a room as much as it adds colour to it.
At A2 size, the work has enough presence to become a focal point within an interior while retaining an intimate, contemplative quality. It works beautifully on its own or alongside other carefully chosen pieces in a collected space.
BY THE RIVER SHE LAY is produced as a limited edition of only 20, with each print signed and numbered by me.
