MIRISSA — Large Floor Cushion

Mirissa is inspired by the warmth, colour and sense of escape I associate with the southern coast of Sri Lanka.

I wanted to capture the feeling of arriving somewhere beautiful and immediately slowing down — warm sand beneath your feet, turquoise water stretching towards the horizon and the lush greens of the palms surrounding you.

The artwork brings together flowing blues, vibrant greens and touches of citrus, creating a composition that feels fresh, joyful and full of light. Rather than depicting the landscape literally, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of it — that wonderful feeling of being somewhere where time seems to move a little differently.

At 90 × 90 cm, MIRISSA has a generous, relaxed presence. It is made to become part of the way you live in a space — somewhere to sit, stretch out, read or simply enjoy being surrounded by colour.

I love taking my artwork beyond the wall and turning it into something tactile, useful and connected to everyday life. Textiles allow the artwork to become part of an interior in a completely different way.

Made in Britain from premium linen, MIRISSA is printed on both sides and finished with piped edges and a concealed zip.

For me, this cushion is about warmth, freedom and the feeling of being transported somewhere else through colour.
