ALAIA — Original Mixed-Media Painting

ALAIA is a painting about movement, light and the feeling of being completely carried by a moment.

I wanted this piece to feel fluid and alive — as though the colours and marks are moving across the surface rather than sitting still. The work developed intuitively, with each layer of paint and drawing responding to what came before it.

I’m drawn to the energy that appears when colour, gesture and spontaneity are allowed to take over. Some marks are deliberate; others happen through the process itself. Together they create a rhythm that moves through the painting, giving it a sense of freedom and flow.

There is something joyful about not knowing exactly where a painting is going to take you. ALAIA grew from that feeling — following instinct, responding to colour and allowing the work to evolve rather than trying to control every detail.

For me, this piece is about energy, freedom and the pleasure of movement. It is expressive without being overwhelming, bringing a sense of life and rhythm to a space.
