LAST SUMMER Painting

LAST SUMMER Painting
LAST SUMMER — Original Mixed-Media Painting
LAST SUMMER is about that feeling of looking back on a beautiful time and wishing you could hold onto it just a little longer.
I’m drawn to the way memories of summer can stay with us long after the season has ended — the warmth of the light, intense colours, long evenings, the feeling of being somewhere else, and those small moments that become more precious with time.
I wanted to capture the feeling of summer rather than a particular place or moment. Layers of colour, brushwork and expressive marks build an atmosphere that feels warm and familiar, while the more spontaneous elements suggest memories beginning to blur at the edges.
The painting developed intuitively through a combination of painting and drawing. I worked in layers, allowing each one to influence the next, building texture, movement and depth as the composition evolved.
There is something both joyful and slightly melancholic about LAST SUMMER. It is about warmth, memory and the passage of time — and the beauty of knowing that some moments stay with us even after they are gone.
I imagine this piece in a home where art is chosen for how it makes you feel — a considered interior with space for something expressive, personal and full of atmosphere.
