ALEGRE — Original Mixed-Media Painting

ALEGRE is a celebration of joy, colour and the feeling of letting yourself be completely in the moment.

I wanted this painting to feel light, spontaneous and full of life. It developed through an intuitive conversation between colour, brushwork and drawing, with each layer responding to what came before it.

There is something I love about allowing a painting to unfold without knowing exactly where it will end. A mark leads to another mark, one colour changes the feeling of another, and gradually a rhythm begins to appear. ALEGRE grew from that process of following instinct and allowing the unexpected to happen.

For me, the work is about emotional brightness — that feeling when something simply lifts your mood. I wanted the energy of the painting to be infectious, but balanced by enough space and rhythm for the eye to move around the surface.

I created ALEGRE for people who believe that the art we live with should do more than look beautiful. It should make us feel something.
