ORENDA — Original Collage

ORENDA is an expressive collage inspired by the raw energy, rhythm and instinctive language of tribal art.

I was drawn to the idea of marks carrying their own energy — gestures that feel ancient, spontaneous and connected to something instinctive within us. Rather than trying to create a literal narrative, I wanted the composition to feel as though it had its own language.

Layers of paper, texture, colour and expressive marks come together intuitively, creating a sense of movement and quiet strength. There is a balance between the more structured elements and the spontaneous marks, giving the work both presence and freedom.

I love working with collage because of the physicality of it — tearing, layering, moving pieces around and responding to what is happening on the surface. The process is tactile and instinctive, and ORENDA grew from that sense of discovery.

For me, this is a piece about energy, instinct and the beauty of imperfection. It has a strong presence without needing to dominate a room.

ORENDA is for those who are drawn to original, expressive artwork with texture, character and a sense of something slightly unexpected — collectors and interiors where art is chosen because it adds feeling, not simply because it matches the sofa.
