IPANEMA — Colour Accent Cushion

IPANEMA is inspired by the colour, energy and unmistakable spirit of Rio de Janeiro.

I wanted to capture something of those long, sun-filled days by Ipanema Beach — the golden sand, deep blue sea, green mountains and the feeling that the whole city seems to move to its own rhythm.

The artwork brings together rich blues, vibrant greens and warm orange, flowing through the composition with expressive movement. Rather than depicting the landscape literally, I wanted to capture the feeling of Rio — warm, confident, colourful and full of life.

There is something about Brazilian colour that has always drawn me in. It feels generous and joyful, and IPANEMA grew from that love of colour and the emotions it can awaken.

At 50 × 50 cm, this cushion brings an instant lift to a sofa, bed or favourite chair. It can sit beautifully within a quieter interior or become part of a richer combination of colour, pattern and texture.

I love taking artwork beyond the wall and into the things we live with. A cushion can be functional, but it can also carry the atmosphere of a place and change the way a room feels.
