MEMORIES OF YOU — Original Monoprint

MEMORIES OF YOU is about the way memories stay with us — often not as clear stories, but as fragments, feelings, colours and fleeting impressions.

I’m fascinated by how a memory can surface unexpectedly: a particular colour, a familiar shape, a feeling that suddenly takes you somewhere else. We don't always remember the details, but we remember how something made us feel.

I wanted this work to hold some of that emotional ambiguity. Soft tonal shifts and expressive marks overlap and recede, creating a sense of intimacy, distance and reflection. There is something deliberately unresolved about the composition, allowing the viewer to bring their own memories and associations to it.

The image developed intuitively through the monoprinting process, with pressure, gesture and movement shaping the marks. The physical nature of the process gives the work a sense of immediacy and vulnerability that I feel is particularly suited to the subject of memory.

MEMORIES OF YOU is a quiet, personal piece — artwork to live with rather than simply look at. Its emotional quality makes it particularly suited to a thoughtfully considered interior, where art can hold meaning and become part of the story of a space.
