SUNSET — Original Monoprint

SUNSET is inspired by those fleeting moments when the light begins to change — when the warmth of the day starts to fade and the sky moves through layers of colour before giving way to night.

I wanted to capture the feeling of sunset rather than simply depict it. The work developed intuitively through layers of colour, gesture and mark-making, allowing the movement of the ink and the spontaneity of the printing process to shape the final image.

There is something about sunset that always makes me pause. The colours can feel fleeting and almost impossible to hold onto, and I wanted to bring some of that warmth, energy and atmosphere into this piece.

Created using traditional monoprint techniques, SUNSET is an original artwork on Fabriano art paper. The textures, variations and expressive marks are created through the physical process of printing, giving the work a sense of immediacy and individuality.

For me, this is a piece about colour, atmosphere and the simple pleasure of being surrounded by something that makes you feel good. It would work beautifully as part of a considered contemporary interior, bringing warmth and personality without losing its sense of calm.
